For those who want to expand their boating knowledge but don't have a lot of time, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 15-2 will offer America's Boating Course, about boating safety, in four sessions on Monday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30. The class will begin Feb. 25, 2008, at the Seal Beach Yacht Club,  located at 255 Marina Dr., Long Beach, CA. 

The course describes types of boats, including PWCs, trailering, knots, rules of the road and navigation, chart reading, anchoring, operating a boat, legal requirements and boating emergencies.

The $35 fee includes the text, CD, and a proctored examination that is required to receive a certificate of completion. Many insurance companies offer discounts to boaters completing the course.
